When we become a true follower of CHRIST we can expect this world to be against us. We should not be surprised by this but find comfort in knowing that this opposition is just another mark of a life identified in JESUS. Many times while walking with JESUS, I have felt the weight of this life and its cares draining me, just like all other CHRISTians have as well. I know of those who lay awake late at night concerned about a wayward prodigal child. Some were raised in a CHRISTian home, but now want no part of JESUS. There are those who are heartbroken because their spouse wants out of the marriage and they don’t want to hear about GOD anymore. Some are going through a difficult illness and they feel like JESUS is far away. We hope and pray things will turn around and the circumstance change but sometimes the problem remains, only to ever understand when we are with JESUS in Heaven. I can speak from experience the LORD is very near to a believer who is going through hardship, heartache, and pain. As we walk with JESUS in these last days, we can expect trials and troubles. When we are unashamed of HIM it’s a very bold statement to the world. There are several realities from the Word of GOD about standing with HIM until the end. There is another great reality about walking with JESUS in these dark days, not only is there fruit produced by suffering, trials, and opposition but also wonderful fruit of the people who come to faith because they see the reality of JESUS in our lives. They may have stood back many times and wondered why you don’t become upset when things go bad. They may have seen your joy in the midst of cancer, heartache, or being treated unfairly. The joy they saw wasn’t fake or a put on. You see, the real joy of the LORD supersedes temporary happiness and good times. It is the kind of joy that even in the midst of trials can rest on the fact that all is well with my soul. I know people who have had their lives turned upside down yet remain faithful to the LORD and sometimes those trials only serve to take their faith to a greater level. What a wonderful, amazing, beautiful thing to see a child of GOD who is marked by the abiding, sweet, real presence of JESUS even when their life seems to be caving in around them. This is the kind of life that shines bright in a dark world. I find great peace and comfort as this world grows colder, darker, and more lawless, by knowing we have the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT living inside us. HE promised to be with us always...even to the end of the age. Many of you may not know the story behind the song “It Is Well with My Soul. To me it is the reality of belonging to the LORD.
