When we come across someone we cant help, it is heartbreaking. Yesterday, we met a little girl named Susanna, probably about ten years old. Susanna had meningitis as a baby, and now has cerebral palsy. Her parents carried her to the clinic yesterday hoping for relief for their child. Susanna was having some difficulty breathing, but we saw multiple dental abscesses that need treatment. Her mother and father stoically brought her into the room so we could help her. She stopped breathing. Would breathe again, then would stop. We had the best of the best specialists traveling with us, but we had to turn her away. As we drove home from Mexico, many of us felt a sense of not being able to help the one. The ones in most need. The ones never to be forgotten. The ones that never even made it to the clinic. My heart breaks. We want to take action, and offer this opportunity to others to take action. Please pray for her family, that they will continue to love their little girl. We need a surgical center with adequate equipment to safely treat this little girl and others like her. We can be a blessing to the one.
