When we started operations on September 7, a very large percentage of the Valley was under water... Kashmir Valley was like an ocean. We could not distinguish between Jhelum, Dal Lake and the inhabited areas: Air Vice Marshal Upkarjit Singh. (Y) We made serious attempts to rescue people marooned in flood waters based on inputs we got from various sources, including people: Air Vice Marshal Upkarjit Singh. (Y) weather department has forecasted that there will be light rains ( showers) in J&K and it will not affect rescue and relief operations in the state.
