When we were in First Form or the equivalent of 7th grade here, - TopicsExpress

When we were in First Form or the equivalent of 7th grade here, our English teacher introduced us to Pride and Prejudice, and my then girlfriend immediately fell in love with Austen, finished reading all six of them before the summer was over. She loved the genre so much, she went on and completed a Phd in Com Lit. And yet my own students are reduced to reading NYT articles, short clippings and other crappy so called contemporary lit, without even realizing what they have missed in life. Sigh, the failure of American education system. theatlantic/education/archive/2015/01/the-wisdom-deficit-in-schools/384713/
