When were in conflict, and especially those of us whose lives may - TopicsExpress

When were in conflict, and especially those of us whose lives may involve several conflict events a day, we can become overly reliant on words. One way to protect our health and our hearts is to learn to leave some things unsaid. For many of us (me), this requires an enormous amount of self-control that can be hard to grasp in the heat of the moment, but in a conflict event, the words that flow from us can become unguided missiles that do collateral damage to our relationship with Junior and even to our relationships with those that are witness to the events. One strategy is to hang on to a quote from Shirdi Sai Baba who said, “Is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve on the silence?” That might help you to parent from your heart, rather than your temper, when you feel trapped in yet another conflict that wasnt of your making. Remember my friends, you are entitled to a better day. Brenda McCreight Ph.D. Hazardous Parenting
