When will some people over here ever grasp that knowledge without wisdom is like water in the sand.(Guinean proverb on wisdom) In the 24 years I have been in the land of the brave I have seen leaders compromising important principals in favour of their bellies or personal glorification. If we could say ok that money reserved to build a new parliament is spent on housing blocks in the informal settlement consisting of simple structured residential units with nice vegetable gardens for every unit and to kill two birds with the same stone ..glorifying those whose blood waters our freedom in a meaningful way, could we not put remembrance wreaths simple but elegant above all local ornaments to honour the dead? We could name one block after Kakulukathi Mungunda for instance. It pains my heart to note that it has been 24 years but yet women like Pendukeni Ithana, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa, Nora Schimmming -Chase the list is endless, some have been in parliament for the past 24 years have failed to spot that in order to empower woman it starts with acknowledging the role played by woman during our bitter days in pursue for freedom. Demanding with immediate effect that the should be a statue of Kakuluthathi Mungunda sand- witched right in the middle just as one enters parliament or in the green meadow of parliament with a flippen nice fountain where children can play. As a woman as a girl child of the land of the brave it saddens my heart to note that those woman together with all those women who ever served in parliament be they from COD, DTA, SWAPO failed to demand that those male statues that are decorating the entrance of parliament need to be complimented by statues of Namibian heroines like Kakulukathi Mungunda if her involvement in the liberation struggle is told than the image of woman will be a better one and in return people in the most remote villages will learn to invest in their girl children, woman will be seen as equal partners and who knows it could encourage more woman to enter politics because they should not shy away from politics because they have every right to participate in the current affairs of their country so that a better future is shaped for their children and those that will come there after . Good morning Namibia they have decided to discontinue the peoples parliament Ewilamanguluka not knowing that there are many avenues available to exercise that right to freedom of expression, we say what we want, we say so without any fear because we represent the suppressed views of women of Namibia who are severely under-represented in the decision making process of Namibia.
