When you compare our system of government and a monarchy, it is - TopicsExpress

When you compare our system of government and a monarchy, it is tempting to compare the king to the president. But in our constitution, the law-making body is Congress, thus making the combined Senate and House comparable to a kings law-making capabilities. Now some countries have wisely curtailed their kings free reign on making laws, but our Congress was set up to be the ultimate authority, including budgetary concerns. The president in our country is supposed to be more comparable to the head of the national defense body, also typically a part of a kings authority, but only a part. The President has the part of the executive authority, that means effectively executing the laws made by Congress. Somehow we have gotten them mixed up over the last several decades and allowed our president to assume the role of our Congress, also, as if we were in search of a king. (1 Samuel 8:19, the whole chapter, really) This train of thought is brought to you by the presidents promise in his address to have a budget before Congress soon. Thats not among his list of duties. Maybe hes in need of some suggestions as to how to return to his proper station.
