When you get down to it; there is really nothing to it. We as a culture assign a ridiculous significance to sports. I don’t refer to those who are “actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood” but to the fanatics (we redact that word to “fan”) who fervently follow and live and breathe and boast and brag based, quite literally on the way someone else bounces a ball. Billions of dollars shift annually as championships are won and lost by entities whose players matriculate from team to town just as frequently and for the same reason: money. “I’m a do or die (insert your team mascot’s name here) fan.” But, like the seasons, the athletes come and go so do not look too closely, you might recognize that year after year, we find ourselves “cheering for laundry.” Through their seasons, main steam sports (more college than pro) are of casual importance to me. My interest peaks when the bowls start to pop up. I like to see the Cards and/or Cats compete. And, I firmly believe that the NCAA Basketball Championship is the best in all of sports…There is one winner, and whatever bias may place a team on a more favorable road to the finals, no matter the officials ability or inability, the games are played and the best team finds a way. Blah, blah, blah… the family bracket challenge is all but done. Arithmetically, I dont think my oldest daughter can lose. Three of us voted with our hearts; “Go Cards.” And, Sara Grace… well... the blue in “Big Blue,” highlights her eyes…. She is right about that and chose wisely. Go Laundry!
