When you live in a culture where "cultural Christianity" is the - TopicsExpress

When you live in a culture where "cultural Christianity" is the popular norm, I think that fact actually makes living in a way that is faithful to following Jesus becomes very difficult. Why? Because so much of what are really cultural phenomenon end up getting baptized and treated is if they are Christian phenomenon--even ones that, upon more careful thought, could be seen for their theological bankruptcy. We complain about the "non-Christian" aspects of our culture and how they is "ruining" our society. Yet, I have this nagging suspicion that those are much, much less a factor than the popular cultural Christianity that blinds us to the huge difference between being "a good citizen" or "a good employee" or "a good Joe" and being a faithful follower of Jesus.
