I also dont think everybody has to be a big singer. I dont like a lot of gospel artists for that matter because they do too much, its like they try to outdo each other with runs, vocal gymnastics and dont just sing the dang song, that is why I get why some like the popping sounding singers, because you can hear the music, now if somebody knows how to emote lyrics with their vocals thats a talent especially if they know how to control their vocal power but I aint into that having to oversing on everything. And if I ever got good enough, I am not going to try to appeal the young urban crowd, Im going to appeal to whoever appreciates my artistry. I really dont believe in there being any it factor, the it factor is marketability and being able to sell albums, people taking to them and liking them usually due to overexposure. The record company MAKES and manufactures the stars today. By only allowing certain artists the monopolize at a time, its all business. And the people at the top of the industry have all the pull and power to make anybody they want a hit. If you only hear something day in and day out, even tho it sucks, its Psychology that it grows on you over time. Nobody can convince me that a Madonna is on the same level of talent as a Prince but I think she sold more than he didduring her time. She was hype and came out with her schtick and they were able to mold her into theis image that people idolized but is her singing/looks/dancing skills/shoo even her personality any better than any other artists at that time...So ppl need to stop with that mess about it factor. It factor is marketability and that is all. The artists is the puppet the record execs are the ones pulling all the strings so they are the ones that take all the money and should get all the credit...esp with a lot of the folks out today... And me personally, some ppl hate on the white artists takin over Rap/R&B but I feel like if black people aint bringing it with good music, then thats on them... I f white people like to sing our music and they happen to be more popular because white people dont bootlet stuff htye support their faves. Well so be it...I for one dont discriminate, if its good I will like it. Black artists needd to get off this twerking, materialism, shallow bs and maybe folks want to buy their isht...I like fun music too thats not too deeep and not offensive so thats what I will listen to, white or black or other...And if I ever get good making music, that is going to be the type of artist I want to mold, someone who can cross over and dont have to fit stereotypes to make me some money, lol We need to drop the ratchet bs because thats why noboy want to listen to rap and r&b anymore....
