When you need vet help for your critters and cant find anyone.... I usually do not vent, but this sure feels like it.... My younger mini has gotten regular dental care, but suddenly , from one day to the next, he is unable to chew hay. No prior warning at all. He tries, chews some and spits it out. He is able to eat soaked hay pellets and it is not an emergency per se, but I really do not want possible complications to arise, like a choke or impaction colic. Cannot find a vet who can come out to look at him. One (a specialist) is booked 3 weeks out and the other is out of town and has no replacement who can come out. Apparently they also all assume that one has a trailer and can trailer which I do not, although I am sure I could find a resource if absolutely necessary! I do not understand this as a professional...I would never let clients horses down who need more immediate help. I MAKE time for that by rescheduling, or I refer to another resource who is available and/or help find one who can be. Really disappointing, especially since I also regularly refer to those vets because I know they do good work....
