When you think of a zombie, what do you think of? Do you think of a slow mindless creature that their only goal in "life" is to eat the flesh and brains of a living creature, as in the Walking Dead? Or, perhaps, do you think of a zombie as Max Brooks does? As a fast, somewhat intellectual, hunter whose goal is to, again, spread the virus and increase numbers to make it more possible to survive? Well, World War Z is the way the second option goes, well, because it was based of the book written by none other than Max Brooks. At first, I was skeptical of the movie and how good it was going to be. I mean, the book was comprised of interviews, not following one specific character as in the movie version. That, I think is what, the movie did well, they took the book of interviews and made it follow one single person. They did do a good job on the casting of the movie. Brad Pitt did a good job at giving an emotional drive to the film that no other actor could achieve. Unfortunately, that is where the movie fell off. If you are big on the zombie genre you find that there were many predictable parts to the film, such as, when people where going to die, and when and where the zombies would show up, etc. Also, the movie just seemed empty, they went one place, talked to people, then zombies came. Repeat this three more times and you have World War Z. For example, their was a part where Brad Pitt and some woman where in a plane crash, and they just happened to survive, so they walk to place they have to go, they walked for all of five seconds before it skipped to the place they were going. What I think should have happened is that while they were walking they come across a rogue group of zombies, with both of them being injured, they have to sneak through them with out being noticed. There is just no meat on the bones, which I think that is a problem. With the budget they had, they could have put more in. The final verdict is that, if you are a big zombie genre fan, you will find it very empty and predictable, and if not you will enjoy it for what it is, simply a zombie movie. I give this movie a 6.5/10
