Whenever we invite someone to our homes we make sure that everything is prepared for them so that their visit is pleasant. We make sure the house is cleaned, the dishes are washed, the living room is straighten and swept, and that the bathroom is not messed up. Now we go through all that for people to visit our homes ; why wont we do that for the Holy Spirit who desires not just to visit you, but to abide with you? The Word of God says work out your own soul salvation with FEAR AND TREMBLING which says that if youre doing all that you can to keep your salvation, then you are also doing all that you can to not offend, grieve, or quench the Holy Spirit. Just like youre so excited to welcome a dear friend or close relative, be that same way about the Holy Spirit everyday.
