Where do I even begin? Sorry in advance for the cheesiness of the video & this post but um, its CW- youre allowed a little bit of cheese? Charity Week this year has honestly been such an incredible journey that started all the way back in May when Yasir and I wrote our CW head applications. Its been an emotional roller coaster from start to finish; there were highs and lows, disappointments and successes, tears and laughter. Its not been easy, I feel like Ive aged a lot (and lost a lot of weight from stress!) these last few months but Im so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and grow from this experience and its something Ill always look back on with a smile. Having such an enthusiastic and passionate CW co-head has definitely made the journey a lot easier, Alhamdulillah. So thank you Yasir, I know weve had our differences but Im grateful to you for never giving up even when times got tough! Its been a privilege to have been able to work with the dedicated isoc committee lead by Ibtesham and Ayshah who have always had pearls of wisdom to pass on and lift our spirits and ensure we keep on going. Our CW Dinner is always the highlight of the year and Nida & Kaywaan smashed it this year mA, the best one yet (with the inspiring and heartwarming AbdelRahman Murphy!). Thank you to Laila, Mariam, Dalia and the rest of the SnS team for your tireless efforts, you painted the town pink and showed everyone what #girlpower can achieve! Zain, Robie&Ayesha BOTS was SO much fun and its a huge credit to you that we didnt have to intervene once, you guys pulled off a great event independently and professionally. Its not letting me tag more people but also thank you to our other event heads & CW volunteers Khalid, Amer, Isra, Nafisa, Athif, Nadia, Uwais, other Uwais, Mazen, Nafisah, Alia, Afifa, Yusuf, other Yusuf, Samar, Meithem, Samad, Shiraz, Ahmad, Riaz, Lamia, Midhat, Abeer, Hiba, Sarah, Tas, Saliha, Mustafa, all the freshers too... and loads of other people I cant even think right straight right now, sorry if Ive missed anyone out but you know who you are! To Sarim, Maryam, Ruby, Hamid, Fatima and Goga for inspiring us by being great ex CW heads and giving us advice & help when we needed it. And to the amazing London team lead by Jawad & Naveed. And the uni reps whove helped us including Saba, Shirin, Afsheen, Wafa, Sabrina, Zoya, MeherNisa, Sumaya, Salma and the entire team! There are too many people to thank for the help and support (including my best friend Salma, my housemates Habbagh, Ragham and Asra and my family for being supportive) but Im making dua for you all! Its an honour that Ill always treasure to have helped lead Imperial College to their first ever victory in the history of CW #Alhamdulillah. I genuinely couldnt believe my eyes when I saw the result today. Being such a tiny university (CW-wise), winning CW would always seem out of our reach but I hope todays result can show that with enough perseverance, enthusiasm, hard work and sincere prayers we can achieve anything! A huge congratulations to the other universities for smashing their totals this year too mashaAllah, over £400,000 from London- it seems unbelievable right? That really is the power of unity! #UnityIsTheKey I pray that Allah swt accepts the time and effort that every single CW volunteer put into the campaign this year, none of it wouldve been possible without you guys and it makes me so happy to have seen so many students (and family members- young and old) getting involved, helping out & making donations. Thats why our tag line this year is Together we shine brighter- youve all been true #CWstars! mA Its been said before but its so very true, we may have won tonight but Allah swt knows the real winners, I pray He accepts all our efforts, places His barakah in every penny raised and that this all counts on our scales of good deeds on the day of judgement. And I pray that He swt forgives us of any shortcomings, I know Ive been far from perfect as a CW head and I hope that Ive stressed out at you or wronged you in any way you can forgive me!
