Wherever people gather, poetry lives there. There is a lot going on here. Hopefully, I can carve out the space to start really making impact free of vexations of human joy. Time to be productive and not making anybody elses misery part of my problem. One of my favorite American poets- Naomi Shihab Nye is going to be giving a free lecture at the Kino Theater in Albequerque. She writes about love, war, and, loss. She makes her home in San Antonio and wanders from there. She puts language under a microscope and language is about life and I think that life is about becoming a better listener, a better witness. And sometimes life is about travelling that raggedy edge to learn something from people who have given up everything.
