Whether you agree with GM crops or not, this is a landmark case we - TopicsExpress

Whether you agree with GM crops or not, this is a landmark case we should all be aware of. A common line is that if you grow GM crops or not it should be a personal choice. However, whats ignored is that as soon as you allow farmers to grow GM crops because they want to, neighbouring farmers can lose their choice to farm organically (due to contamination) and consumers lose their choice to not eat GM foods (as no GM labeling is required). This shouldnt be a debate about personal choice, rather it should be focusing on food ethics and food sovereignty. In short, we think this verdict is complete bulldust and that it does nothing for paving the way for a healthy, regenerative, prosperous or sustainable food future. Our hearts go out to Steve Marsh in both gratitude and respect for taking on this fight but also in sadness at the current outcome. Heres hoping theres an appeal and that the verdict is changed. abc.net.au/news/2014-05-28/landmark-gm-decision-wa-supreme-court/5482864
