Whether youre anti fox hunting or pro fox hunting I dont care, but the antis like to spread certain myths to support their case. Here are a vew facts... In general foxes hunted by hounds are not chased for miles being scared, hounds follow a scent. They are scent hounds not sight hounds like greyhounds and lurchers. For most of a hunt a fox does not know its being followed. Once the first hound catches a fox it is pretty much killed outright instantly. Yes, the hounds tear it up, thsts their reward for doing their job, but by this time the fox is dead. Most people who follow the hunt do not especially relish the kill for its goryness, its just part of what happens. Other methods of controlling foxes are neither as efficient or as humane. If you put gass down a hole every creature in that hole, foxes, badgers, invertebrates die, slowly and agonisingly. If you shoot a fox it is very difficult to get a clean kill. Many foxes are injured by shot and die slowly in pain. Hunting with hounds culls the weak, old and some of the glut of youngsters. Other methods are indiscriminate. So, assuming that fox numbers need to be controlled, what method of killing is actually better? And is your dislike of foxhunting actually just prejudice against people you deem to be different.? Id like to put this as a comment on some very anti hunting posts I see but Im a bit scared of the reaction Id get, so I make it more general. Share if you like. Tell me my information is incorrect if you *know* that to be the case. And, yes, sometimes a hunt gets it wrong and some hunting people are not nice people, but that applies in all walks of life.
