PLEASE SHARE this important information: Yesterday, we opened the Emergency Operations Centre to coordinate The City of Calgarys response to keep people safe and keep our city moving. There are a lot of departments involved including Roads, Fire, Waste and Recycling, Water, Police, and others. ENMAX is also working very closely with us. Their crews are working around the clock to deal with the power outages were seeing around the city. Many City crews are responding to your 311 calls about fallen trees. As of 3am, more than 50 trucks were out on our priority routes to make sure that snow and ice doesnt become a problem. My colleagues at 311 and 911 are working very hard to take important calls from citizens to better coordinate our efforts as this storm continues. Obviously, they are dealing with higher than normal volumes, so the wait time if you call can be a while, but we appreciate your patience and that youre calling. Here are some tips on who to call if you see something out there: CALL 911 to report life threatening emergencies including: - Power lines that are sparking or on the ground CALL 311 to report fallen tree limbs including: - Trees leaning on power lines - Tree emergencies, including limbs that have fallen on roadways, houses and vehicles - Every fallen tree limb that is reported will be recorded in our database and placed on a map to determine priorities ENMAX is aware of power outages across the city Stay informed on power outage status at enmax/outages or receive updates on the ENMAX Power Trouble line at 403-514-6100 If your power is out and you need to report a 911 emergency: 1. Use a landline plugged into a phone jack 2. Use a cell phone. 3. If your cell-phone does not have battery charge, go to a trusted neighbour’s house, nearest emergency station (Police/Fire), or commercial establishment.
