Whew, saying so many prayers right now of gratitude for my son Danny being here when Pop so needed him. Dan had just come downstairs and we were talking a bit, when we heard Pop holler, Hey! Dan went in, came out and said he is down on all fours, it will take both of us for this one. And he is sans clothes - turns out he had socks on and under pulled up to just about his knees. As I walked in, he said I have no idea what happened or how I got down here. (We never heard a thump of a fall!) We got his gait belt on and adjusted and preceded to try to lift him up from the floor onto the bed - just his upper half. All of a sudden, I felt a sharp pain pierce through my right hip. So Danny, who already was taking on the majority of the lift, took over even more. It took about 4 short gains to get his upper body all the way on the bed - thank goodness, he is only 5 8, but most of that is his torso - and then 2-3 more lifts to get him onto the bed the rest of the way. With both our help, he was able to get turned into the right position, with Dan blocking him from rolling off the bed. Then, Danny, bless those muscles in his arms he had built up with his one job, was able to actually lift him up and over! First thing, Danny had to then do, was to hand Pop the urinal, for his bladder had been telling him it was time almost since he landed on the floor! The sharp pain is gone, but there is a dull ache, not much, just that there is some compared to not being any at all! Have to also share, that even with all the concern and my bit of pain, we were all able to laugh and joke about various things - and even after all was over! Dan is bedside to assist if needed with Pop dressing and then to aid him in walking out to the living room. While I sit here, having a smoke and a fresh mug of coffee, and in my chair that helps with my back and my hips! We will survive this day with humor, our love of each other and with all the help the Lord gives us!!
