Which came first, the Lamb or the Law? When the Israelites were in Egypt, they marked the doorposts of their homes with the blood of the passover lamb so that the angel of death would passover their firstborn. They fled Pharoahs wrath because he had just lost his son when the Angel of death came to his home. Moses led The Israelites to Mount Sinai where the law was given. We get it backwards that our faith is, somehow, a list of dos and donts. The relationship is established through the sacrifice that the Lamb made by the shedding of blood. After the relationship is established, then comes obedience. Its not something we earn, its something we lovingly follow because we have a relationship with the Lawgiver. Satan comes along and tries to pervert that by saying that if we obey Gods law we are, somehow, being legalistic. Would you say to your child, dont worry about keeping my rules, because that would be too burdensome for you? Of course not! Why then do we think our relationship with God is any different. He loves us and knows what is best for us. His Word, from Genesis to Revelation, is our guidebook. We should never doubt the Lawgiver. If you are struggling with obedience to your Father, its is time to reestablish the relationship. The only way to do that is to come into line with His ways. Otherwise, we remain a rebellious child. Its impossible to have a good relationship with your Dad if you continue to rebel against His rules. That isnt a healthy relationship.
