While I was in Alabama I passed by this old run-down abandoned cabaret/gentlemens club. The roof was sagging and slowly collapsing, and the sign had been stolen some time ago. Ivy and various other plants climbed up the sides of the building clinging to chipped and faded paint. Among the decay, debris, and roadside litter you could still read a singular piece of graffiti, haphazardly sprayed near the door; I Stay Woke. I remember looking at it and thinking same.
