While Im still in a theatrical mood I think a true Oscar style - TopicsExpress

While Im still in a theatrical mood I think a true Oscar style thank you speech is in order for all those who effectively made yesterday TOO successful for us to cope with! In no particular order (because they should all be at the top!) Ive got to thank My amazing committed costars Catherine Christmas, Dan Wyatt and Tom! As firefighters I dont think even Dan or Tom have experienced heat like they did yesterday dressed as a 6 foot snowman in July! And catherine abandoned her stall way way way longer than originally planned so we could meet as many of the children as possible! Sophia Wyatt who having wanted a peaceful day with her family spent more time running around, taking on crowd control (against some bloody aggressive parents practically launching their children at the Frozen tent!) and generally being awesome. And I know we shouldnt highlight or focus on disabilities but the woman has no legs for gods sake! And she also did Elsas hair and make up in I think 6 minutes, possibly 7! Lisa Newhouse for helping me not just yesterday but over the last 5 months to achieve that guinness world record. The record attempt was approved on 18th February and it has been non stop since then to get all the prizes together and Lisa has spent many many many hours emailing some amazing companies to make sure we had some fantastic prizes in there! And also for helping to manage the Chaos that was the Frozen Tent!! And generally being an all round good gal! Samantha Siggins who Im not even friends with (i should probably change that!) for volunteering for an hour or two and ended up staying all day as the Frozen tent was just so manic!!!!!! Neil Johnson for providing the music and DJing, I cant recommend him highly enough, what a pro!! Jennifer Mason who despite undergoing intensive chemotherapy sat all day on the balloon tent helping with the balloon animals! And of course Alan Christmas, my mum and Bob for helping there, the comments Ive had about that tent (that we didnt even get a chance to set up, or get any of the stuff out) was run by really friendly people who made sure people didnt mind waiting! Jo Lavender, who not only drove up from Somerset to help, again stayed all day and also brought my favourite Count the Kicks success story Rothen with her for us to meet! Rothen was born at 27 weeks following reduced movement and I use him as my example in all my Dept of Health meetings when they try to raise the stage at which fetal movement monitoring should take place! So that little dude you saw behind the balloon tent is influencing public health messaging around stillbirth! I digress but he really does mean so much to me! Nick, who again was one of the volunteers who was coming to help for an hour or two but stayed all day serving food and drink!! All the Christopher Robin Burpham staff who abandoned their stall to come and help on the Tombola... the number of people queueing for that mustve been a world record in itself! The tombola could simply not have run without them! Julie Rae and Barry Davies who also helped on the tombola and made sure I didnt have to bring so many prizes home...obviously it was all above board but man they had a lot of winners ;) Kirstin Shepherd who along with Lisa and the Christopher Robin staff helped get those 5,103 prizes out on the table!! I would probably still be there if i was doing it myself! Heather for doing the face painting... you may have noticed the facepainting was well above your usual fun day standard, thats because she is a professional film and TV hair and make up artist! But she took the day to come and paint the kids faces and if you saw them they were AWESOME! Carol and Mike from Pickle Peeps (bouncy castles and soft play) who donated 100% of their takings to Count the Kicks! Matt who having offered to drive the van at 6am then get home for 7am ended up leaving the park at 8:45pm! only 13 hours longer than Id said! And a special thanks to Kelvin and the man whose name i dont even know (via Sam Milner!) who really saved the day at the meet and greet and acted as body guards for us Frozen characters.... If you werent there you may think im joking but we were MOBBED! and the parents were so bloody aggressive and even threatened Sophia! ... One day I might tell them we were people dressed up and not the real elsa, anna and olaf! But Kelvin and unnamed man (who Sam will have to tag!) really helped us get through everyone and ensured we left with our lives! I know there were other people there who I didnt see or dont know who also helped and I would like to say a huge thanks to them, whoever you are! Im guessing you can tell from this the turnout was about 100 times bigger than we expected (We apparently blocked the roads around Burpham with people trying to get in!). A combination of this and volunteers who didnt show up, the people who were there worked their bloody socks off! I could not be prouder of these people because every single one of them did the work of about 20 people yesterday! Sophia told me 6 months ago dont do a fun day it will kill you (she added some expletives in there obviously). Today I give her full rights to say i told you so :) Thank you to everyone who came yesterday too, hope you had fun!
