While San Francisco often leads movements for peace, we don’t - TopicsExpress

While San Francisco often leads movements for peace, we don’t often acknowledge those who sacrificed to keep our peace. To honor our veterans, I was thrilled to be part of the opening of 250 Kearny, which will house 130 formerly homeless veterans in the heart of my district. In 2010, I worked with housing advocates to bring attention to the building, which was called one of the worst SROs in the city. Along with the 150 Otis Veterans Commons project, which I also helped sponsor, San Francisco is well on our way to meeting President Obama’s goal of ending veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. To all who made 250 Kearny possible, thank you for allowing the City of St. Francis to pay proper tribute to our veterans. Happy Veterans Day.
