While adapting the pilot for Wayward Pines, everybody asked me if I ever had any communication with the author of the book. “Is he precious about the material?” “Is he mad you’ve made changes?” “Does he return your emails?” An adapter of a book and its author are supposed to hate each other, right? Wrong. Blake Crouch and I were in effortless sync from day one. Still, Blake was contracted to write one episode of the show and I wasn’t sure how the script would come in… and then it did. And it was like he had been writing television all his life. So I had him write two more. More importantly, Blake and I became friends. Throughout the production of WP, I devoured the rest of his books. When I read ABANDON, I flipped out and knew this had to be my next project. OUR next project. There was no need to write it alone. hollywoodreporter/live-feed/chad-hodge-amblin-team-abandon-735814
