While all the Jasper runners were slaying it at the Death Race, I - TopicsExpress

While all the Jasper runners were slaying it at the Death Race, I ran into these fine fellows. Had my head down, running up the switchbacks into the Tonquin Valley. Felt a strong wind...looked up, to see these 3, ripping it up, as only fit, strong mountain runners can. We were all doing the same route, but in different directions. They went up the ACC trail to Chrome lake, up to Surprise Point, back down the Astoria Trail. I did the opposite. Cant tell you whats a better way; make your choice on when you want to run the gnarl section,( the knotty, tricky, pay attention section on the ACC trail up to Surprise Point.)This section of trail usually gets a bad rap, because of the potential muddy and rooty bits.I, for some hallucinating reason...didnt mind it, and settled into the ,it is what it is philosophy. The majority of the Astoria Trail feels like a Italian autobaun after this section. This is a fantastic run, approx 35km. for anyone wanting to try something different. It was so nice to see these guys, we all exchanged excited blithers and sweaty high fives, then they were off... ripping down the trail.
