While in College at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, I completed 1 pass in three attempts, on the receiving end was then Edinboro Basketball Coach Jim Sims in a Spring Football game when Head Coach Denny Creehan let me play Quarterback. I never made one jump-shot as a guard for the basketball team but I did earn Coach Greg Walcavich one technical foul. It happend while playing Slippery Rock, I was shooting pictures under the basket, I notice the referee about to give Coach a T… So I leaned over the refs shoulder as he stood on the baseline and said if you are going to T him up can you get closer to him so I can get you both in the photo. The ref turned around called for security had me re-moved from the game and gave the Edinboro Bench a Technical foul. As Edinboro Police were escorting me out of McComb Fieldhouse I heard Coach Walcavich yell to the ref….Oh thats just great, throw the photographer out of the game, I hope you know he has about ten kids and they are all here, so who is going to watch them with their dad ejected? well I guess you can, because you for sure are not watching this game you are officiating! I never once recorded a kill or a dig for the Edinboro Volleyball team but the very first story I ever wrote as a reporter was on the 1981 Edinboro Womens Volleyball team and now 33 years later I am still introducing the world to the greatest group of spikers I know. To make one of my long stories short if you go back through all of the Edinboro University Athletic record books you will not find my name, but if you look close you will see pictures and find videos I produced of the hundreds of Boro stars. In my life I have been on the sideline for the Super Bowl, press row for the World Series, the medal ceromony of the Olympics, but given a chance to do it all again and I had to choose, I would be happiest of all just pointing a camera at and Edinboro University Athletes. Just with in the last hour I received calls from Associated A.D. Todd Jay and Alumni Director Jon Pulice, and have been informed that the Edinboro University Hall of Fame Board, consisting of 11 distinguished members, voted 11-to zero to induct me into the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame in the class of 2015. I am honored and overwhelmed and have excepted an invitation to accept the honor on April 25, 2015 on the Edinboro Campus! I hope many of you will be able to attend. I know Boro S.I.D. Bob Shreve is now a thinking oh no, because I talk to much but I promise I will keep my remarks to less than 5 minutes. Thank you Edinboro University! I am so very very moved and can honestly say this may be the greatest honor of my professional life! GO BORO!!!!! See you on April 25th!!!!
