Throughout his life, he shared his vision, artistry and his knowledge of photography with people from all over the world. In 1980, he was elected by the Photographic Society of New York as the "Honorary Outstanding Photographer of the Century". He was awarded by the Government of Singapore the covetous Cultural Medallion in 1984 for his outstanding achievements and contributions to art and culture in Singapore. His life and achievements are recorded in the Encyclopedia of Singapore. Additionally, he was honoured by the award of gold medals by America, Britain, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Malaysia and Singapore for a large number of his creative works. A memorial award for international photography was named after him by the Photographic Society of Singapore.
