While its by no means the final story, this just seems a more - TopicsExpress

While its by no means the final story, this just seems a more reasonable hypothesis, much more reasonable than black holes, containing singularities without any physical dimension, and infinite density. But we are nowhere near to understanding the true nature of the universe. The relationship between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity remains as puzzling as ever. And the realization of the existence (and unknown nature) of dark matter and dark energy demonstrates that we are even further from an understanding of the universe than we thought we were. Currently, the Standard Model of physics reigns supreme. But the contradictions it presents seem to increase with each new discovery. In history, this sort of situation typically occurred just prior to breakthrough discoveries that invalidated current scientific orthodoxy, and required a radical change in how we viewed the universe. So I think it is reasonable to expect some revolutionary changes in physics and cosmology in the near future. And I would love to see that include some kind of revocation of the speed of light as a universal speed limit. nature/news/stephen-hawking-there-are-no-black-holes-1.14583
