While many Northern Californian irrigation districts and Sacramento and Feather River settlement contractors have unimpeachable rights to water in Northern California, it seems that the United States Bureau of Reclamation and the California Department of Water Resources simply chose to ship water from Northern California to Southern California and out the Delta in despite their decades long contractual obligations to the North. Now the Agencies say they cannot remotely perform on their obligations and simply say to bad to the Northern Californians and the devastating effect this has on their economy. Is this ineptitude, politics or both? I ask that you pay attention to this issue as what has been happening and will happen in Sacramento the next several weeks is truly historic and potentially life changing for many Northern Californians. The Courts will ultimately rule, but the in the meantime? The lack of water is real in California and now the latest struggle has begun in earnest and the stakes for Northern California are extremely high. We must support serious, talented, respectful, pragmatic people to solve these issues and hold people and the Agencies accountable.
