While most of us will be spending time with our families this Thanksgiving season enjoying elaborate meals with enough food to feed an army, please remember those who, for whatever reason, wont have this luxury. Normally, Christians in Action provides Thanksgiving lunch for those who are needy and/or homeless. However, this year, because of lack of funds, Christians in Action desperately needs our help. Upon learning of their plight, a group of people, headed by Melissa Wickersham of Creative Candy Designs, have gotten together and have decided to take it upon themselves to help out our less fortunate citizens right here in Paris. On Wednesday, November 26th (the day before Thanksgiving), Christians in Action, along with our help, will provide Thanksgiving lunch to approximately 400-450 people, at the parking lot at Market Square, south of Downtown Paris. Through the goodness of the folks at Paris Regional Medical Center, turkey, dressing, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, salad makings and pies will be donated. First Federal Community Bank is providing tents; Eric and Melanie Clifford are providing tables and chairs, and Keith Flowers, Laura Reynolds and I are providing cases of fruit. There is still a need for the following items: Coffee, coffee creamer, sugar and sweetener Milk in 6 oz. containers Rolls Salad Dressings Butter or margarine Gravy Salt and pepper Garlic salt Beef broth or boullion Marshmallows Cinnamon There is also a need for servers, runners (to take the food back and forth from the kitchen at the Episcopal church) and a clean-up crew. If you would like to volunteer your time or some of these items listed above, please contact Melissa Wickersham, Laura Reynolds or me right here on Facebook. We will GLADLY sign you up! Just remember, these folks deserve to have a good meal during the Thanksgiving season. THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT!
