While shopping for Halloween treats today, I inquired about fair trade Halloween candy at the grocery store and to my surprise, the employee of the store had no idea what Fair Trade was. The store actually did have some sustainable treats and I made my purchase and went my merry way. However, I figured since the concept of Fair Trade goods and why they are important is still unknown to some that I would share a few links: greenamerica.org/programs/fairtrade/trickortreat.cfm For those whod like to purchase some Fair Trade and sustainable treats: Bamboo Natural Foods store on Martindale in St Catharines has the best prices for Fair Trade Chocolates (Endangered Species Chocolate and Gingins), and Zehrs has mini boxes of organic raisins for around $2.50/bag and candies in their natural section.
