. While the federal budget deficit has been cut from its record-breaking level during the last recession, it is still at a level never seen before President Obama. The current deficit would be the all-time record by a comfortable margin of 50 percent above any deficit pre-2009. I do not think anybody should be bragging about “cutting” the deficit to 50 percent above the pre-recession level when we are in year 5 of the recovery. Thus, I believe I live in a factual universe that knows how to properly frame historical comparisons and the food is good.
