While the roasting operation and coffee shop is under construction let’s get a bit of an introduction as to exactly what kind of coffee Baobab will be serving up and delivering to your doorstep. So we’ll be importing and roasting Speciality coffees from around the world with a Q Grade score of 80+. But what does that mean you ask? Speciality coffees can be defined in a few ways and describes the coffee bean from the crop, to the roasting and brewing process. But simply put, can be expressed as coffees that are grown with the highest standards in specific geographical microclimates (e.g. a specific farm in Ethiopia). Due to where they’re grown these coffees take on specific unique and very distinctive flavours which make them stand out from each other and from the regular variety you get in a supermarket or average coffee shop Q Grading refers to the internationally recognised system in which these coffees are scored for their flavour, quality etc using the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) standards. Any coffee beans with a Q grade score above 80 are considered exceptional. Long story short, Baobab will be roasting up some mighty tasty coffees that will quite literally change your life! Forever.
