While the world is still waiting to get a taste of the Android 4.2 - TopicsExpress

While the world is still waiting to get a taste of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the air is getting thicker with the aroma of its successor, the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. So far none of the two has been unveiled by Google, or even been given a tentative launch date but that hasn’t stopped anyone from speculating on When, What or How’s of the two OS’s. In fact less than subtle signs like the animated Android bug sitting on a bench eating a slice of green pie, shown by Android Developer Relations Reto Meier at the Google I/O, are just adding fuel to the rumor mills. According to some, Key Lime Pie is expected to be made available for tasting in June or July 2013, coinciding with the Motorola X Phone release date. But latest reports are predicting that the next generation of Android OS’s will not see the light of day until October 2013. October happens to be the month Google is celebrating Android’s fifth birthday in, making some think that serving Key Lime Pie at this birthday party will be Google’s way of celebrating. Apart from continuous speculations flying left, right and center about the launch date of Android 5.0, Android spy circles are also making wild predictions about what the new OS holds for them. Here are some of the most viable rumors about what the Key Lime Pie might taste like: Messaging – High time coming but it is expected that Google will finally integrate all of its messaging services into one compact app for the benefits of Android 5.0 users and name it Google Babel. Camera – Great things are being expected from the Key Lime Pie’s camera as well. Rumor has it that the new camera has the Samsung Orb, a unique Samsung feature for turning panorama photo’s in 360 degrees. A few of Google Nexus devices are already equipped with this feature known as “Photosphere”, but whether all Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie devices will be able to run the Samsung Orb software is yet to be seen. Keyboard - Android users can also expect to get the torturous Android default keyboard replaced by a revamped, sleeker and smarter keyboard in the new Android 5.0. Guess Google finally decided to heed the user complaints and add some user friendly upgrades like a swipe-typing feature. Video Conferencing – Hearing the iOS users bragging about Apple’s Facetime, even though the company underplays it, BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 8, too enhanced their handsets with video conferencing software. People are now expecting Google to wake up and smell the coffee as well by launching its own easy-to-use video conferencing feature. Battery life - Androids are great phones but when it comes to playing games or streaming videos from 3G or 4G connections, it drains the battery faster than you can imagine. Gamers are expecting that the Android 5.0 will up the ante where battery life is concerned. New Profiles - it is also expected that smarter profiles in the Key Lime Pie will help users conserve battery life. The new performance profiles will prevent power loss by lowering brightness, reducing CPU clock speeds and stopping the phone from fetching data or synching emails while the user is asleep at night. So here were some of the most frequently repeated rumors about the Key Lime Pie in Android spy circles. As do-able and exciting as they all might seem, remember that so far all we have are rumors and speculations to make do with. Google is yet to show its cards.
