While waiting for a parish event to begin, I went across the street and took some snaps around my old stomping grounds, Penn Common. Among other curiosities which have survived graffiti and vandalism, is the old monument to the Union Navy, Artillery, Infantry, and Cavalry. I grew up across the street from the park. Sad to say, the four cannons that flanked the monument in my childhood are long gone.
