While we mourn the loss of young precious lives, we, as a nation - TopicsExpress

While we mourn the loss of young precious lives, we, as a nation and the world at large, need to think hard as to how is it possible in this century that a mentally sound man of not less than eighteen years of age intentionally picks up a gun, goes into a school full of young children and makes sure no one gets out alive and finally blows himself up? Last few days I struggled with the above question and many questions of the sort. I think this much is clear by now that drones or hanging the Taliban(who happily blow themselves up) on death row in public (as many seem to support) is going to be yet another bend in the circle that has been completing its orbit over and over again. West blames Islam, we the Muslims know for a fact it is not Islam and hence debate goes on on late night shows like that of Bill Maher. Sharmeen Obaid chinoi in this video shows you how this is not a religious war, or a war of east and west but one that starts with economic and political instability in the area which is then exploited with the very effective tool of religion. I think no one is born evil, we create the evil. Not the Taliban alone but we all are responsible for what has happened to those kids. Shouting in frustration to kill all terrorists and to bomb them is a natural reaction by the virtue of being a human being and I have gone through that phase. In fact even when I saw the pictures of the dead Taliban attackers, while I felt disgust, I felt pity for them as well. I understand in my limited capacity the urge to feel good to see them dead for what they have done but We should feel pity for them and if we dont, we are no different to them. It all starts with people electing Governments that spend more to keep hostilities between neighbours alive for political gains and spend virtually nothing on education, awareness and Nation building. Once a wise army man told me that if you have a gun in your house, you should know that it is going to fire at someone, the questions of who bought it, why was it fired and all the tears and cries will be then of no use. It is that simple. We now have a generations work to be done. via Rahim Daad
