Whilst I admit to being a bit of a spelling/grammar/punctuation - TopicsExpress

Whilst I admit to being a bit of a spelling/grammar/punctuation nazi myself at times, I do find it somewhat disappointing when the main debating point of a post is bypassed in favour of replies which centre mainly around the original posters lack of written communication skills. I also frequently find some of these such replies highly ironic, since they often contain errors themselves. So, people, in my opinion, if youre going to denigrate someone for their poor written skills (rather than debate the point they are making) be sure your own is spot on or you just look silly! FYI... Your - belonging to you Youre - short for you are Their - belonging to them Theyre - short for they are There - relating to a place Apostrophes only need to be used to show possession and for contractions, not on plurals (or, indeed, any old word that ends in s) Question marks go at the end of questions, not at the end of statements Its should HAVE, not should OF Definitely, not definAtely This list is by no means exhaustive and since we seem to have so many written language enthusiasts on Spotted, perhaps some of you would like to add to it...
