Whipped up last night. 2 plys of corrugated plastic on alternate bias - one with ribbing vertical, one with ribbing horizontal. Also with a small piece of hard plastic between to help stiffen the centerline. Pardon the bare plastic and tape - Still need to make a fabric cover to hide the ugly and maybe attach some scrap metal, then paint it. For the shield debate wed had previously - Im 62 and 200 pounds. This shield is 36 tall, 10 wide top and bottom, 18 at the widest, 12 down from the top. This is in my basement with no room to really get into guard right, but you can pretty clearly see that at 18x36 its still covering me almost completely in stance. Thats 4.5 square feet IF this were a rectangle - its not, so you can shave off maybe a foot of that. At 62 and 200lbs, I can be fully covered by something that is less than half of the new max size of 9 square feet. Figured Id share the general idea, and show you that you dont need a 4.5 foot tall and 2 foot wide shield to be efficient.
