Who Is Your Kith ?? When the Fulani Islamists invaded the Old - TopicsExpress

Who Is Your Kith ?? When the Fulani Islamists invaded the Old Oyo Kingdom, a group of Ibadan warriors came to the rescue of their brethren up North; they got organized and drove the Fulani invaders out of their kingdom. Lets fast forward to the current time! Boko Haram Islamists have been bombing Borno consistently for nearly two years, perhaps longer, but the one nation brigade from the South (East and West) have done nothing; not even sending a group of warriors to Borno to assist in the fight against Boko Haram - after all its one nation. Instead of lending support to their so-called brothers up North, the one nation brigade from the South often say that Boko Haram is the problem of the North; so, the northerners have to deal with it themselves. Why were the Ibadan indigenes so eager to assist their brethren in Oyo against the Fulani onslaught, but the one nation brigade from the South today refuse to do same for the Borno people in North? The answer is that the Old Oyo Kingdom was a nation with homologous ethnic groups (same culture, same language, same belief and value systems); so, an attack on Oyo, to an average Ibadan indigene was an attack on the whole of Yoruba Kingdom. Conversely, Nigeria is a multi-ethnic-colonial state with North and South (i.e. East and West) divide, where an average South-Easterner sees him or herself culturally different from an average Northerner, and vice-versa. This explains why an average person from the South would never commit his life to assisting his brethren in Borno even though he hypocritically believes in the idea of one nation. 9ja is a united nation on paper, but a failed colonial state in reality. Its by supporting the Oodua nation that you will gain back all that you have lost in the colonial state of Nigeria. Support regional autonomy; support the Oodua nation. Ifa Dare
