Who can forget Papua New Guinea’s own rugby league hero, the late Tuyo Evei. Labelled as the “demi-god” of rugby league in Papua New Guinea, he probably was the greatest rugby league player ever that ever graced the playing fields of Papua New Guinea. Hailing from Henganofi in Eastern Highlands Province, he won the heart of the nation with his abilities. Extremely talented, he was a world apart from many players. Those who had the chance to see him play will never forget his display of extra ordinary talent and skills. He was a remakable player that drew offers from overseas teams, yet, he rejected these offers to remain with his beloved Lahanis and PNG Kumuls. If there was any player in PNG , past and present, deserving imortality status in PNG rugby league, it has to be him.
