Who do these two think they are? Well actually it is long time bffs, Travis Skeen and Morgan Thompson, also know as “Those2”. Travis and Morgan have gone into production on a series of podcasts. They plan on covering important issues to today’s youth in a semi day time talk show format, often interviewing guests and throwing in a bit of light entertainment for good measure. The podcast will post weekly on a twenty minute format. Skeen and Thompson released their first podcast December 10 titled “Social Shaming” In it they talk about “how society wants us to be a certain way” and discuss their own experiences with adversity, social shaming and bullying. Travis, a gay man, has been on the bullied side far too often. Morgan confesses her weight issues have lead to pressure from family and friends, being a victim of bullying and other abuse, along with extreme and dangerous dieting and low self esteem. The show ends on an uplifting note offering encouraging words on acceptance and being true to one’s self. The podcast was welcomed by great reviews. Comments included, “Amazing!” and “The best podcast I’ve seen in a long time.” I, myself was impressed. Although they might not get a lot of points for originality and the production was somewhat lacking, their message is clear, their topics important ones which need to be discussed. I am taking into consideration it is their first production and everything has a learning curve. Thompson and Skeen have an important message. And today’s youth talking to today’s youth about today’s social issues is a great concept. They plan on covering topics such as self respect, acceptance and tolerance, racism, peer pressure, family and home life issues, coming out, body image issues, eating disorders and teen suicide. We should offer our support and encouragement, comments and suggestions an maybe a little constructive critique. With this “Those2” might just end up making a difference in people’s lives. sAfter all, good people wanting to do good things, there’s nothing wrong with that. I am going to watching “Those2”.
