Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this - TopicsExpress

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: Gal 1:4 The majority of professing Christians only speak of the redemptive work of Jesus in terms of eternity. Even so, this text is one of the simplest and clearest in all the word of God that tells us in no uncertain terms that Jesus gave Himself for our sins to deliver (save) us from this present evil world. Not just for eternity. It is great consolation to know that eternal life awaits us. But what about now? Many need help now! Timely deliverance is according to God’s will. We can experience the peace of the forgiveness of sins today, here and now. With this knowledge we can escape the evils of the present world and find refuge in the promises of God secured thru the redemptive work of Christ. Failure to grasp this monumental truth will cause the student of the bible to mis-apply salvation as it is taught in the word of God. The majority of the mentions of salvation actually do not speak of eternity, but of the same deliverance that Paul speaks of here. There is an easy way to discern the difference. Timely deliverance or salvation will always be conditioned upon something we must believe, or upon an act of obedience. Eternal salvation is totally unconditional on our part, wholly by the grace of God. Looking at the word of God in this manner will open many doors of understanding for you. Ignoring this principle will leave you with an inconsistent biblical position that cannot be defended.
