Who is Jesus? By: Ryan Edward Sinnott There are many different beliefs about who Jesus of Nazarene is. Some say he is Elijah or John the Baptist.... Many believe him to be God in the flesh and the second person of a Triune being. Jesus even ask his disciples this very same question. How did they answer this question. Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” I agree and would like to share what I personally believe about my King Christ Jesus. First I would like to mention I am not saying I am some kind of prophet and I am infallible when I interpret the bible. What I am saying that I have vigorously research and studied the bible and have concluded the following: I believe that Jesus is my savior. He was a perfect man who live a perfect life and was obedient to his father 100% even in the face of death. He died and was raised on the 3rd day and conquered death and bought back the chance for all who have lived and died to live again. However I do not believe Jesus is God in the flesh. Some Christians may be unaware of this common claim but the majority of all Christian denominations believe that Jesus is God and is part of a 3 person Godhead that consist of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost! They believe that even tho there are 3 persons to God there is not 3 Gods but One God. These 3 persons are not the same person but are equal to each other and are all fully divine yet only one being. If you are confused or think you are miss reading what I am saying you are not! This is the most popular belief and doctrine in Christianity. I have a hard time swallowing this view. I believe Jesus is not God but he is the son of God. He is a created being who has be giving all authority by his God and father as a entitlement for being completely obedient even to death, yes death on a cross. #1 Jesus was the first born from the dead and in Colossians 1:15 it say “Jesus is the first born of all creation Verse 18 the first born from the dead. This Verse confirms Jesus to be part of creation. Jesus was Gods first created being to die and be giving eternal life. Death and sin entered the world through one man (Adam) and through one man (Jesus) was taken away and will be granted to all who call upon the name of The LORD (YHWH). #2 Jesus in his own words said in John 17:3 that the Father is the only true God! #3 Jesus called his father his God in John 20:17 Jesus said, Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. In Ephesian 1:3 it say blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The list goes on and on when we can see that Jesus has a God. God doesnt have a God but Jesus does! #4 Jesus always said he does nothing of his own will but of his fathers. Jesus only did what he was commanded to do. Also he payed to his father, his God. If Jesus is God who was he praying to? #5 God can not be temped James 1:13, but Jesus was temped by Satan. I can go on and on but lets look at some of the proof text in the affirmative. John 1:1 say the word is God and in verse 14 the word became flesh (Jesus). Remember the word became flesh not God. Yes the word is God but God did not become flesh the word did. Let me explain. In Genesis chapter 1 God said let there be light and Gods word became light. God did not become light but his word did. People automatically assume that Jesus is the word because the word became flesh but in my opinion it was gods word that became flesh not God himself. Jesus is the promised savior of mankind and was sent forth by the father to redeem us. Another verse used to prove Jesus divinity is john 10:30 when Jesus says “i and the Father are One”........ OK in this same chapter Jesus says he and his disciples are one. Im I to believe that they too are god. Just like a man and woman become one so are the father, Jesus and all his followers one. Another, in John 8:58 Jesus said before Abraham was I AM. First you notice the capitalization of I AM. This was never capitalized in earlier manuscripts. Kind of a trick to make you think that is a proper name giving to Moses In exodus 3:14 Yahweh said to Moses I am what I am. In Greek that is ego emi ho on ego emi and in Hebrew Ehyeh asher Ehyeh. Jesus said a very common phrase used in everyday language. Every single prophet in the bible said I am in a sentence. Yahweh said I am what I am not just I am. This to me is the most ridiculous proof text of all and I could rant on and on about this verse but I want to finish my point. Lol. The best proof test is when Thomas called Jesus his Lord and his God. I have no problem with this verse. Jesus was resurrected at this point and has be giving all authority by God and has been made a God and is to rule as God in the Kingdom. God the father also called Moses a god the Judges a god and the angels Gods. Jesus is my kind and my God but only to the glory of the father! Amen! To end this Post I would like to say, regardless of who you say Jesus is I doubt he will hold it against you. Some of you may think Im an asshole but some think Im an OK guy regardless I dont hate you! Thanks for reading and may God or Jesus bless your day! The End!
