Who is the God of the Mason’s by Ron Bedell (Please read a pamphlet entitled, “The Facts on The Masonic Lodge, John Ankerberg and John Weldon, Harvest House Publishers, Eugene, Oregon, 97402) Introduction This is a study to help determine if the God of the Mason’s is the God of the Bible and the God of Christianity and to see if Freemasonry is compatible with Biblical Christianity. Is the God of the Masons the Lord Jesus Christ or Satan? There are 50 states and there is one Grand Lodge in each state. The Grand Lodge in each state sets the Ritual and the interpretation of that Ritual which is to be followed by the members of that state. What is the Masonry? Masonry is also known as Freemasonry, the Lodge, and the Masonic Lodge, the Mason’s. Masonry is a very powerful secret society composed of only men. The counterpart of the Masonic Lodge for women is called Eastern Star. There are approximately four million masons in the United States alone. Many are church leaders including Southern Baptists, CEO’s of businesses, entertainer’s, media personnel, and professional people. Freemasonry seeks the membership of influential men. The Masons control the Southern Baptist Convention. saintsalive/resourcelibrary/freemasonry/facts-about-the-masonic-lodge equip.org/articles/should-christians-join-the-masonic-lodge/ https://google/#q=Masonic+Lodge+is+not+Christian “The main principles of Freemasonry insist that each member show tolerance, respect and kindness in his actions toward others; practices charity and care for the community as a whole. Freemasons do a lot of work for charities including holding and participating in various fund raisers within the community to promote charitable causes. To become a member, a candidate must satisfactorily meet all the specific criteria. He must be: At least the minimum age required by that particular Lodge; be of good morals and good reputation; believe in a Supreme Being; he must apply of his own free will, and be unanimously elected by the Lodge members.” masonic-lodges/masons.html “Let us examine the definition of Masonry as given by Masons themselves. In Albert G. Mackey’s Revised Encyclopedia of Freemasonry he states, ‘All (Masons) unite in declaring it to be a system of morality, by the practice of which its members may advance their spiritual interest, and mount by theological ladder from the lodge into heaven” (The Facts On The Masonic Lodge, Ankerberg and Weldon, pg., 7) What is the final authority for the teachings presented in the Masonic Lodge? The final authority in the Masonic Lodge is not the Word of God, the Bible. The final authority is the “Ritual.” Which books and authors have been recommended by the Grand Lodges in the United States? The three most common authors recommended by the Grand Lodges are: (a) Henry Wilson Coil’s Masonic Encyclopedia (b) Joseph Fort Newton (c) Albert G. MacKey. Please notice the Bible is not among this list of recommended books. Is Freemasonry a Religion? Most Masons are adamant in stating that Freemasonry is not a religion. But is this true? “Let’s begin with the definition of religion from Webster’s Dictionary which defines religion as: 1. Belief in a divine or super human power 2. Expression of this belief in conduct and ritual.’ But Masons do not need to take our word for it. They only need to listen to their respected Masonic authorities. The number-one author recommended by the Grand Lodge was Henry Wilson Coil and his Masonic Encyclopedia. Coil quotes the definition of religion given by Funk and Wagnails’ New Standard Dictionary (1941), and then asserts that Freemasonry fits the dictionary definition of what constitutes a “church.” Coil states: ‘Freemasonry certainly requires a belief in the existence of, and man’s dependence upon, a Supreme Being to whom he is responsible. What can a church add to that, except to bring into one fellowship those who have like feelings?...That is exactly what the Lodge does (95:512)’ In other words Coil is saying that not only is Freemasonry a religion, but Freemasonry also functions as a religion as much as church does.” The Facts on the Masonic Lodge, pgs., 12-13, John Ankerberg and John Weldon Does the Masonic Lodge teach its own plan of salvation? “Another reason Masons give as to why Freemasonry cannot be considered a religion is because ‘It offers no system of salvation’ (1:2). In other words, they say Freemasonry has no teachings about how a man can go to Heaven. But is this true? Every candidate who enters the Blue Lodge is told again and again during the first three degrees of Masonry that God will reward those who do good deeds. This can be documented by examining any Masonic manual that contains the Ritual of the first three degrees. In the manual under the explanation of the symbol of the ‘All-Seeing Eye’ – one of the symbols for God – you will find these words: The ‘All-Seeing Eye (God)…beholds or pervades (69:83) the inmost recesses of the human heart, and will reward us according to our works’ (58:129, emphasis added). What is the reward Masonry teaches man will get because of his good works? Masonry teaches that God will reward man with eternal life in the ‘Celestial Lodge Above.’ This can be documented in the Masonic Ritual and Monitor under the explanation concerning the lambskin, or white linen apron. There it says, ‘He who wears the lambskin as a badge of a mason is thereby continually reminded of purity of life and conduct which is essentially necessary to his gaining admission into that celestial Lodge above, where the Supreme Architect of the universe presides’ (58:50, emphasis added; cf. 69:88). Now does this sound to you like Freemasonry is teaching a way of salvation? If you were to hear this taught in the Lodge, wouldn’t you think that Freemasonry is saying that you can go to the ‘Celestial Lodge Above’ if you live a pure and honest life? Isn’t that religion? If you’re a Christian, when the Lodge teaches a man that by his good life and by his good deeds God will admit him into Heaven, isn’t that contrary to Biblical teaching? Doesn’t the Bible clearly teach that salvation is not by a man’s good works—salvation is only by God’s gracious provision through Jesus Christ? Ephesians 2:8, 9 very plainly says, ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.’ But if you are still not persuaded that Masonry is presenting a way to Heaven, you should listen to Masonic authority Henry Wilson Coil, who writes the following about one of Freemasonry’s religious services. In his encyclopedia he argues: ‘Freemasonry has a religious service to commit the body of a deceased brother to the dust whence it came, and to speed the liberated spirit back to the Great Source of Light. Many Freemason’s make this flight with no other guarantee of a safe landing than their belief in the religion of Freemasonry’ (95:512, emphasis added). Notice he says, ‘religion of Freemasonry.’ From this evidence, all must conclude that Freemasonry is a religion because it does offer religious instruction and the promises of how a man can get to Heaven. In brief, Freemasonry is a religion because it presents its own plan of salvation. So we have now seen that Freemasonry fits the definition of religion as given by Webster, and we’ve seen that it does offer its own plan of salvation—how a man can go to Heaven.” The Facts on The Masonic Lodge, pgs. 13-14, John Ankerberg and John Weldon Conclusion If Freemasonry or any religion offers any other way to get to Heaven other than through Jesus Christ it would be a false religion that would lead people to hell. Furthermore, their plan of salvation is not of God; it is of the devil, himself. As we have seen above Freemasonry is a religion of “good works” to get to Heaven. God said Eternal Life in Heaven is free (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, Freemasonry does not offer God’s way to get to Heaven. Salvation through faith alone in Christ alone is God’s way. Salvation through works is the way of Freemasonry and it is way of the devil. If the God of the Masons is not the Lord Jesus Christ then it is the devil. “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6
