Who is the young activist Omar Mamedov? As is known, one the founders of the “ Axin “movement ( Akhin), a political activist and blogger Omar Mamedov was arrested by police on Jan. 24 at noon. Though his relatives applied to the different law enforcement bodies, they were unable to get any information about his arrest. Later, it was revealed that the notebook belonging to him was confiscated, and then he was released after receiving the warning about summoning to the Court again. Omar Mamedov was arrested on January,24th of the article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (unlawful purchase of narcotics or psychotropic substances) and the Nasimi District Court filed a preliminary investigation sentencing him to imprisonment for a period of 3 months. If Omar Mamedov ‘s guilt is proved, he could be sentenced from five to ten years of imprisonment. An advocate has already been hired for the young activist. He was one of the administrators of the page “ Aztv-dən seçmələr” [ aztvden’ sechmeler] on Facebook. In order to prevent his social activity his father was taken to the Organized Crime Department. After this event Omar left Nida Civil Movement, however, he continued social activity. But his father was called for the Organized Crime Department again for the second time and was warned about his son’s activity. The young activist Omar Mamedov was born on February 26th , 1995. He is the student of the Cyprus International University located in The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Omar was the member of Nida Civil Movement. He is the member of the CSP since May ,11th ,2013. Omar Mamedov established “Axin” ( [ Akhin]) movement together with a group of some young people. On January 20th ,he returned back to Baku from the country he gets education; four days soon after his arrival he was arrested. #OmarMammadov #humanrightswatch #amnesty
