Who knows why Eli failed to properly discipline his sons. Maybe he did not want to break their spirits and he hoped that someday they would get it. After all, at least they were in the house of the Lord. What we do know is that he allowed the whole house to be contaminated with foolishness and for this, God held him responsible. What Eli should have done was sit his sons down and made them reverence the house of God, the people of God, and himself. There is so much misconduct in today’s church that people don’t want to come and worship God. God is not pleased and it is time to get order in the church house.
