Who remembers the Housecraft rooms which were on each floor of the block next to the playing field? I remember various housecraft teachers - Mrs Smithson who gave me an order mark or detention for not having the cutlery/equipment drawer complete. Never took to her I am afraid. Then there was Mrs Chalmers but I wasnt taught by her. I had a Miss Morton I think - not the same as Miss Morton the Maths teacher! Then I had Doreen Den Breen (?) who sneaked in the food cupboard to nibble on bits and pieces. I had Mrs Gilchrist for part of my A Level Domestic Science and she was superb. Do you remember the dryers in the Housecraft rooms? I almost forgot to mention Mrs Toon (who is still very much alive in her 90s) and who taught us how to cook Christmas Cakes. I still use her recipe every Christmas and also used it for our Wedding Cakes. I am biaised about this area of school life as I went on to teach Home Economics for 12 years :).
