Whos got their July Bicycling issue? Love the new Max Heart rate formula on page 30! Now there is nothing like having a real sport MD take you on a Max test but not too many MD will, liability issues, which is why most just use 220-age. Bicyclings excellent Training columnist Selene Yeager found a formula evidence based from Scandinavian Journal of Med. & Science in Sports: 211-.64(your age)! Find it very realistic for Seniors, try a comparison using ages 30, 40, 50, 65! 220 minus age and this new formula. 220-age is bias against Seniors driven, in my opinion, by insurance companies. Could ask Ruben about my 12 year experience as Personal trainer.
