Why Buddhism is so Internationally Appealing? Buddha and his Accomplishments : Women Empowerment and Equal Status: He is the first one to raise the dignity of women and in the great religion. He founded, gave women equal place with men. No Caste Division : He did not recognize caste divisions based on birth. One became a noble by the mortality of the life and led and not by the wealth or social position of the parents . Equal Status: He did not separate people according to his wealth or standing. Spiritual Living Force: Buddha’s Dhamma (Dharma) is the greatest living force in the world to –day which can bring peace among men and nations”. Bhikkhu Anoma Mahinda. No recognition of Heaven and Hell: Heaven and Hell , Paradise and Purgatory, are the products of man’s primitive past and served the account of mysteries which could not be otherwise explained. He did not recognize the ‘Western religious concept of recognizing the life as one of master and servant relationship and to obey God’s will and dis-obedience is a sin’. Such a religious concept might have seemed logical at a time of dawning civilization. – Re-evaluation of the concept should be in –order. Ven. Yin Shun. Not a Messenger of God: Buddha never claimed himself as the son or a messenger of God nor received any power from God. Self-Mastery: Through his own diligence , He practiced to perfection the ten supreme qualities : Generosity, Discipline, Renunciation, Wisdom, Energy, Endurance, Truthfulness, Determination, Good will and Equanimity. His Sacrifice and Devotion : He was Borne to dispel the darkness of ignorance and to show the world how to be free from suffering. First Religious leader: in human history to admonish against animal sacrifice for any reason and to appeal to people not to harm any living creature.
