Why Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the Ballon dOr - TopicsExpress

Why Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the Ballon dOr ABOUT Fran-soul Facebook Twitter Share It’s that time of the year again when fanboys gather to defend their favourite footballer and disgrace the competition in the process. Yes, the Ballon d’Or is upon us once more and the question on everyone’s lips is Who Is The Worthy Contender for this prestigious award? In the short time that I have I will try to explain to you why Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to be named the best footballer of the year and what he has that the other 22 shortlisted players don’t. GOALS! GOALS! & MORE GOALS! Cristiano has been scoring for fun this season (and the last) . Ever heard the chant He scores when he wants ? Well this would be a perfect example. Ronaldo has already scored 18 league goals and he has not played in all the league matches thus far . That tally is more than what 7 other pichichi winners achieved in the past. He obliterated the UCL top goal-scoring record by scoring 17 goals in 11 games. Currently he has a phenomenal average of 1.35 goals per game (Club & Country) and his league tally would end up at 68.4! This would eclipse Messis current record of 50 and we all know CR7 would love to do that. RECORDS GALORE Other than the above mentioned “Most goals in one UCL season” he is on course to beat Raul’s record for the most goals ever in UCL history . He is also not that far from becoming the all-time goal-scorer at Real Madrid, surpassing the likes of Gento, Di Stefano, Puskas, Zidane and many more legends. THE DEVELOPMENT Everyone is well aware of Ronaldo’s goal- scoring abilities but there is one aspect to his game that needed polishing that was his assisting stats. Often labelled ‘selfish’ by the media, Ronaldo has been showcasing his goal providing skills in recent games. He has 6 assists so far for club and country, and having been given the go ahead to roam freely by Ancelotti we can only expect more from him THE HARDWARE Ronaldo’s World Cup campaign clearly didnt go as planned. However, there is a reason for this. Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a witch doctor whose name translates as The Devil of Wednesday , decided to cast a spell that will never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. The injury that kept him out of Real Madrid’s penultimate rounds in the domestic clearly had a toll on the Portuguese superstar. He helped deliver La Decima and in the process became the first player to score in two Champions League Finals for two different teams , which when combined with the Pichichi, half of a golden shoe , the UEFA Super Cup and the Copa Del Rey (as well as half a dozen personal awards) he has a haul of gold that makes Slick Rick look a pauper .
